"Gelati" Chenille and Kaffe Fassett Charms Quilt Finished
Lucy from Lasting Creations did a nice job with an all over meander quilting pattern including some daisies and hearts to finish off my charm square quilt. We chose a variegated yellow thread for front and back and avoided the chenille squares so they wouldn't look "flattened".
I finished it with a binding of tiny green spots on white and am pleased with the pretty pastel look. With wool/polyester batting it is also nice and snuggly.
The backing is a favourite fabric - Kaffe Fassett "Targets" in 'pastel' - with a white strip.

Orange Cake
We have oranges on our tree still and I used one today to make this delicious orange cake. It is an easy one using the whole orange whizzed in the blender, eggs, flour, butter and sugar. It always turns out nice and moist and keeps well (if it gets a chance).
Spring Blossoms!
Our magnolia tree is about to burst into full bloom. It is interesting that this is again happening in August as it did when we first came to Melbourne in the early 1990s. In recent years the tree has been blooming in July, so it must be confirmation of a cooler winter this year. I also seem to remember that I needed to put on a coat when going out more often than not this winter!

Group quilt almost finished
Here are some lovely pics taken by Karyn of our group quilt which we plan to sell or raffle for charity. We are so pleased with the quilting done by Lucy of Lasting Creations.
The back is a solid colour with a strip of blocks like those on the front.

Wattle Day
It's the 1st of August and Wattle Day. The wattle in bloom throughout country Victoria definitely improved a grey old day.
Today we travelled from Alexandra to Chewton, near Castlemaine, and then back to Melbourne with quite a bit of rain on and off.
