Made a green and gold pavlova to celebrate the Aussies' participation in the Olympics.

It was delicious!

Snow Week

My family have been up at the snow - Falls Creek - for the week, which is why I have done so much sewing! They had mixed weather but skied and snowboarded (son) to the maximum despite it, and, in my daughter's case,  a very bad cold.

Cobblestones Quilt Completed

This quilt was started quite a long time ago at my group's 2010 retreat weekend in Lancefield. The fabric is French General and I got a big pack of fat quarters and matching backing fabric from the US when our dollar hit $US1.00 the first time ... about three quilts' worth for $100.

I had originally intended to quilt it myself on my domestic machine but had trouble with getting it flat while basting, then when that was overcome I didn't like the straight lines or in the ditch which were my two options ... so there it sat. But in my determination to finish up UFOs this year and because the fabrics are so nice, I pulled it out and off it it went to Lucy at Lasting Creations for some edge to edge quilting. I'm really pleased with the result.

Quilt Top Finished

Last night I finished my "Northern Lights" quilt using Tilda fabrics and pattern from Norway. I'm really pleased with it - looks very fresh! The backing was just a bit too narrow so I made a strip from the leftover prints and whites and added it in, and made the binding from red and white gingham fabric. Now it is ready to sandwich. The original quilt was hand quilted and I am thinking about my options.

Quilt Show at Alexandra

Here are some pics from a quilt that appealed to me at the Alexandra Quilters' Show. It is Leaf Litter by Joyleen Peters. Nice use of colour, including batik fabrics.
