KF Snowballs Quilt Top Finished

This week I added the border to complete the Kaffe Fassett Snowballs Quilt top. While time consuming, the pieces went together without any difficulties and the diamonds even have all their points. I'm really happy with look of this quilt - the fabrics just co-ordinate so well. I changed a few of the prints as they were too flowery for a young man's bedroom but overall the look is still the same as Kaffe intended!

Plum Frenzy Friday

Yesterday I put the plum glut to good use and made Plum Chutney and Polish Plum Cake. Thanks to Linda for the recipe for Plum Chutney and I Googled the other recipe. The chutney has to mature for two months before opening so I have to WAIT.

The plum cake is disappearing fast and is so easy to make (it's like cupcake batter with plums on the top),  also it tastes good warm or cold.

Who's a Cute Dog ...?

There were some cold mornings this week and our newly clipped dog seemed to be feeling it ... here she is later chilling out in the bean bag in her "hoodie"!

Not a care in the world.

My Hand Stitching Project

After a bit of a lull I am making progress again on my hand project - quilting with perle thread on my second 9-patch swap quilt.

Last Friday at quilting group I completed the first motif on a plain square and was pleased with the result.

Snowballs Quilt Progress

Yay! The centre section of the quilt top is finished - all those blocks and 19 rows sewn together.  It has an amazing look, the Kaffe Fassett fabrics just go so well together.

The pieced borders have been cut out so now I have to start sewing them together (and hope they will fit the centre section ...).

Latest Event

No quilting this week yet, but I have tidied the sewing room/study and done some gardening and cooking! The biggest distraction early in the week was last night's Street Orienteering as I was setting the course, with help from my son on the map-making. The location was "Williamstown Strand", starting near the gym and Athletics Track in Newport. The weather was lovely when I was putting out controls but was a bit chilly and windy by start time of 7pm.

I was happy with the course and got lots of positive feedback. A couple of the young boys did really fast runs and there were 144 participants of all ages and abilities in the four runs and one hour walk.
